Grizzly Bear

We drove 246 miles today. The campsite is very nice and peaceful beside a tranquil lake. We are still in the Yukon at Dawson Peak campground. We plan to go across the border into Alaska tomorrow.
Tammy got her ultimate photo today to go with her collection. We saw a grizzly bear beside the road and Danny drove her close enough to get a great shot of the bear. She is a great photographer and I am amazed to see her in action. She does whatever she needs to get a great shot, even using Danny as bear bait.

  1. Did you stop to eat at Mukluk Annies? How about Laird Hot Springs? That was a great stop. We made the trip to Alaska from Arizona in 2002. We drove a 1998 Ford truck and pulled a 25-foot 1997 Jayco fifth wheel. We went to Yellowstone and Glacier before going into Canada. We went up to Dawson City, Yukon and entered Alaska at Chicken. We communicated with family by checking messages by payphone. Our current truck as a sattelite radio. That would have been great to have on our trip. Don’t guess your Model As are set up for that:) Great trip. We covered 12,000 and were gone 10 weeks. We came back by way of the Oregon coast and visited family in California. Great memories everywhere.

  2. Using Danny as bear bait is fine as long as he knows when to run! Occasionally Mike should take his turn in the barrel… it’s only fair.
I saw the Lexington gang out in force at the Frenchlick meet. What a great bunch!
Thanks for the bloging and all the wonderful pictures!
    See ya! Emeric

  4. The pics are great and the stories are also. I like the looks of your temperatures better than ours. We just got back from French Lick with the Webbs, and it was hot and humid! Keep on having a good time and keep us updated, we look forward to it!

  5. Tammy,
I am getting more jealous every day! Love the pictures. As a side note, Bruce and Linda came and took Rose Watts a ride in their 80 year old Model A on her 80th birthday which I thought was the highloght of her surprise party. I wish you were working, Patty is in the hospital and we would love to see you. Have a great day tomorrow and remember that if you feed Danny to the bears then you have to drive all the way back to Crab Orchard!

  6. I can comprehend going up the mountains by gearing down, but how about going down the other sides, and a trailer behind you also!! Do you have an anchor to throw out in a emergency?

  7. WOW, WHAT A TRIP. LOVE THE PHOTO’S AND THE REPORT, KEEP IT COMING. ENJOY IT EVERY FEW DAY’S.
THANK YOU, JON NELSON MINNESOTA BUT WISHING I WAS THERE.
