Canada, eh…

Eric here… My mom, Judy, called to say they are in a campground without internet, but wanted to phone in today’s travels. So I’ll do my best to relay the message (Now with Pictures!):

They are currently in Sangudo, Alberta Canada (population 385). They had a long day of non-stop driving that took them through Calgary and Edmonton. They traveled a total of 330 miles before they pulled into the tiny town.  When they got there they were treated to a huge once a year antique tractor pull event taking place on the grounds of the huge 5 acre campground. Over 92 antique tractors were in the event, but even more surprises were in store!

At the campground were all sorts of antique wonders. The collection, gathered by the campground owner, included old gas pumps, washtubs, wash machines, and even a replica of a 30s Model A roadster in a garage. Also on the grounds was an old school house filled with old books. Needless to say, Danny, Tammy, and my parents were in awe of all the wonderful antique treasures, and felt at home with their cars.

The owner was equally interested to see 2 Model A cars pull into the campground with trailers. As a result they were invited to a free dinner after the tractor pull, and after dinner got to enjoy some ice cream from the antique ice cream parlor.

The temperature is mild during the day, but chilly at night. My mom described it as short sleeve weather by day, but hooded sweatshirt weather by night.

Tomorrow they hope to make it to Dawson Creek in British Columbia were they may have access to wi-fi again. If not, you may be hearing from me again…

  1. Thank you for the extra effort to allow us to ride along on the running boards. This is my first stop on my computer every day. God is good!! I would like to know about the overall condition of the Alaskan Highway. People really are happy to get to know you, where ever you go riding in these wonderful Model “A” Ford. Love the stories you are sharing of the people and their acts of kindess.

  2. This is so great that you spend the time to keep us all up to date. I told a friend about your trip and he said to let you know about the large antique car collection in Faibanks if you get that far it is a must see stop. good Luck and God Speed

  3. Greetings from the French Lick National Meet. We wish you all were here but know you’re glad you’re not. Continued good luck and have lots of fun!!

Still getting some good feedback about our 2013 meet.

Weather here hot & humid with late afternoon/evening showers.

The indoor swap meet a huge success, the outdoor one, not so much. Looks like we’ll be ok with an all indoors swap.

    Take care and God speed.
